Mantaining Your Mane During The Cooler Months

Updated: Sep 5, 2021

As Summer comes to an end and Winter well is upon us.. :( What does this mean for your hair?

We all know as it becomes cold and damp our skin and hair is battered by the temperature.

What should you do to maintain your hair?

Were talking dryness, static, frizz and that general lack of luscious smooth shiny summer hair.

So, how do you take care of your hair, minimize these harsh winter effects and prevent damage? We've put together our favorite winter hair care tips and tricks below so you can achieve healthy hair this winter.

Going darker? Should You, Shouldn't You?

We tend to go darker in the winter months to give our hair "a break".

But are you really giving our hair a break. Yes & No. If your like most of us as soon as it gets warmer you want to be lighter. Extreme changes can be more damaging then staying usual colour or blonde.

But if you go only half a shade to a shade darker your hair will get that break and you'll still feel its a change from your usual colour. And when spring/summer comes around and you want that lightness again, your hair will be healthier and lightening will be a lot less damaging on your hair and bank account.

Hair Gloss

As an alternative to permanently dyeing your hair warmer or darker why not try a hair gloss. This is a great way to tone your hair and warm the color up, without the permanency of traditional colouring. Hair glosses sit on top of the cuticle and coat the hair with added pigment creating a shield against the elements, boosting your natural hair color while adding beautiful shine, gloss

Pigmented Shampoo's And Treatments

Give colour depositing shampoos a try if you feel that your hair colour is fading. These products act as a stain for your hair and are very temporary, but are a great solution for those times you just can't make it to the hair salon.

Staying Hydrated

Did you know that 25% of our hair is made up of water. Drinking enough water will keep your hair hydrated just like it will do your skin have you ever noticed your skin looks tired and dull when dehydrated? Well its the same with your hair!! Staying hydrated helps to prevent dry brittle hair that splits easily.

Treatments

Bonding Treatments like Olaplex and In Salon Treatments are also a good way to add that boost of hydration.

In-salon treatments achieve great results in hydration & improve the texture of the hair. Whilst Olaplex improves elasticity.

Have you tried Olaplex? Ask your stylist about the pro's of olaplex. Hydration is just one of the many good things Olaplex will achieve, but it does so much more...

Olaplex will put artificial bonds in your hair that act like hair...it's basically a bond filler. It is the only treatment that truly works from inside out, so your hair wont always feel soft after the treatment, but it will feel a lot stronger and healthier.

Olaplex is an amazing product, with amazing results, a true investment.

What do you/can do at home?

Firstly we are assuming you use a professional shampoo and conditioner to maintain your locks.

Just like a weekly face mask is essential for healthy, radiant skin, weekly hair treatment masks can make a world of a difference when dealing with dry, damaged hair. Not only can they reverse the effects of dryness, but are an excellent preventative measure to ensure that your hair is protected.

Hair masks are a great way to hydrate with tons of benefits, boosting hair growth, shine, smoothing.

Also using a microfiber towel after your treatment and wrap and leave to towel dry will take out a lot of frizz to your hair.

What can we do for you ?

If you mention this blog we are currently offering a autumn promotion as a thank you :-
